Diageo India donates advanced breath analyzers to Telangana police

Hyderabad: Diageo India (United Spirits Ltd.), a prominent alco-bev company in the country, has lent its support to Telangana Police's efforts to combat drink driving. As part of this initiative, Diageo India provided 50 advanced Alcohol Breath Analyzers to aid in the enforcement of road safety measures.
The event, which took place in Hyderabad, saw the presence of Director General of Police Ravi Gupta, Additional DGP Railways and Road Safety Mahesh M Bhagwat, along with senior dignitaries and members from the Diageo India team. Also in attendance were Road Safety SP Gone Sandeep, LB Nagar Traffic DCP Srinivasulu, Cyberabad Traffic Additional DCPs Venugopal Reddy, and Shivakumar, among others.
Diageo India is actively involved in promoting anti-drink driving initiatives through its flagship program, 'Wrong Side Of The Road'. This program utilizes real-life scenarios to raise awareness among adults about the dangers of drunk driving.
During the event, Director General of Police Ravi Gupta expressed gratitude to Diageo India and the NGO CSR Box for their contribution to providing quality breath analyzers to the Telangana State Police Department. He noted that this support, rooted in social responsibility, would bolster the capabilities of police personnel and aid in controlling drunk driving. Gupta expressed optimism that the provision of these devices could potentially save lives.

Our commitment to championing road safety in India is evident through initiatives aimed at curbing underage drinking, drunk driving, and binge drinking. Aligned with our 'Wrong Side Of The Road' program, these advanced alcohol breath analyzers will assist the Telangana Police Department in addressing drunk driving issues and promoting road safety in the region.”
Diageo’s 'Wrong Side of The Road' program, developed in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), aims to educate participants on the adverse effects of drunk driving. Additionally, Diageo India has partnered with over 25 Regional Transport Offices and established tab labs to raise awareness through this program. Last year, more than 2.3 lakh adults engaged in this anti-drink driving educational experience.
